The cycle taking place from 14th to 27th September will cover a massive 2200km, averaging 160Km a day for 14 days. You will be hosted by towns along the route and share a little bit of their culture making this a celebration of all our beautiful country has to offer. After losing their father to dementia, brothers Struan and Lyle Anderson decide to follow in their late dad’s footsteps, cycling from Beit Bridge to Cape Town, as a tribute to the adventurer he had been in his youth.
Accompanied by friends Simon Clayton and Gareth Myles, the guys saw the ride opportunity to raise some much needed awareness for dementia and set, and smashed, the ambitious goal of raising R200K to train 80 caregivers across SA.
It was the trip of a lifetime and we felt it was too good not to share it with the world! Hence, Border2Beach 2020! This ride more than just a multistage road cycling event (the furthest of its kind in the country) but also a heritage tour of South Africa exposing riders to some of the hidden gems discovered along the route. It is a celebration of our beautiful country and the warmth of her people.
